The experts have spoken, and investors would do well to listen (and read between the lines). While Hydrocarb Energy Corp. (OTCBB:HECC) may not be poised to become the next Exxon Mobil Corporation (NYSE:XOM), it is poised to follow in the footsteps of Tullow Oil Plc (OTCMKTS:TUWOY) [long story - more on that below]. Perhaps more bullish than anything right now, however, is that other, independent observers are starting to take notice, and think HECC shares could be worth nearly three times as much as where they're trading now within the foreseeable future.
For those not familiar with it, Hydrocarb Energy is a triple-threat oil junior. It's sitting on a huge oil stash in the Owambo Basin in Namibia, Africa, is on the verge of launching an oil services business in Abu Dhabi, and is currently operating several wells - with more to come - in Galveston Bay, Texas.... wells that were once owned by Exxon Mobil Corporation, but abandoned/capped a few years ago when the price of oil was too weak and the technology needed to extract their remaining oil didn't exist. Time heals a lot of problems, though, and with the price of oil much stronger now and a whole new owner-mindset of what is "worth it", the Galveston Bay project is the current centerpiece of Hydrocarb's operation, primarily because it's in operation.

Adrian Day: Yes, yes, I like the concept of looking up the secondary plays. I mean, you know we own Altius (ALS) for example, rather than Alderon (ADV). Altius owns 30% of Alderon, that is more diversified, has a better balance sheet. If Alderon succeeds, Atius will succeed.

And with Diamond Offshore being the first of the offshore drillers to report, you can imagine the effect it’s having on others. Seadrill (SDRL) has dropped 1.1% to $37.63, Transocean (RIG) has fallen 2.4% to $42.25, Noble (NE) has declined 2% to $32.51 and Ensco (ESV) is off 1.8% at $53.09.

Ensco has the newest fleet of Ultradeepwater rigs, with 3, and, has 4 more on order, which are already contracted.

Higher oil prices have helped offshore drillers like Ensco (ESV), Noble (NE), Diamond Offshore Drilling (DO) and Seadrill (SDRL) rally and now they’re getting another boost today after fleet updates from Diamond Offshore and Ensco.
ReutersDiamond Offshore’s fleet update was largely in-line with expectations, note Cowen’s J.B. Lowe and Roland Morris:
As previously announced The Ocean Lexington has been contracted to work for a term of 1,189 days starting in December 2014 at a dayrate of $160k/d with PEMEX. The rate reflects the weak pricing environment in the lower-end of the floater market, but squeezing out any cash flow over the next several years from this asset is a positive for the rig given that it would have likely been stacked had it not won the contract.
But Ensco’s fleet status update contained a shocker: It had contracted one of its offshore drillers at a rate well above what anyone thought possible in this weak market. Johnson Rice’s Georg Venturatos explains:
Ensco provided an updated fleet status report, which was highlighted by an initial contract for its ultra-deepwater newbuild drillship, Ensco DS-8 (12,000′), expected to begin work for Total (TOT) in Angola during 3Q15 (through 3Q20) at an initial dayrate in the high $610 range (vs. our estimate of $505k/day) with periodic increases equating to an average rate in the mid-$650 range over the 5-year program (ex-mob).
Cowen’s Lowe and Morris warn not to read too much into Ensco’s new contract:
The $650kd average rate is well ahead of the low-$500′s that we expected, as negotiations with Total began nearly a year ago, and the rig was initially bid over a year ago when the UDW market was significantly stronger. The current market remains challenged, with lower-spec ultra-deep water assets commanding rates as low as $350k/ d. We expect the current market weakness to last well into 2015. There are stil

Mel Evans/AP From a media giant growing its reach through rental cars to a beleaguered theme park operator warning of even slower turnstile clicks, here's a rundown of the week's best and worst from the business world. Microsoft (MSFT) -- Winner Many argued that Microsoft deciding late last month to offer up its flagship Microsoft Office suite of productivity software for iPads was too little, too late. Folks had already moved on to free or nearly free alternatives, and Microsoft was already suffering with a global slump in PC sales. Well, Microsoft still has plenty of bite. It announced there were 12 million downloads of its Word, Excel and PowerPoint iPad apps in its first week of availability. Barnes & Noble (BKS) -- Loser It's not just bookworms checking out of Barnes & Noble. Liberty Media (LMCA) is selling 90 percent of its shares of the struggling bookstore operator, taking its stake of 17 percent down to less than 2 percent. Liberty Media will give up the right to appoint a pair of board members now that it's a shrinking investor, but that seems to be a small price to pay for an investor that wants to deploy that money somewhere else. Running a book superstore isn't easy these days. Barnes & Noble's sales have been sluggish as readers go digital, and the chain's push to cash in on the trend with its own Nook line is fading fast. Sirius XM Radio (SIRI) -- Winner Satellite radio will be easier to tune into in rental cars. Avis Budget Group (CAR) revealed this week that in-dash Sirius XM receivers are now available in more than 60 percent of its Avis and Budget car rental agencies. Avis Budget previously relied on portable plug-and-play receivers that renters could order at the counter. Drivers will still have to pay for access. There's no free lunch even if it's a prepaid rental. However, it's still a good way for Sirius XM to expand brand awareness and ideally hook future subscribers. SeaWorld (SEAS) -- Loser Looks like the killer

Avis Budget Group, Inc. (Nasdaq:CAR) and Apex Car Rentals reported that they have entered into a definitive agreement for the acquisition of Apex by Avis Budget. The acquisition is scheduled to close in October 2012, subject to customary closing conditions.

As an example of uncertainty getting priced in, competitor Avis Budget Group (NASDAQ: CAR ) trades with a P/E of around 14 based on analyst estimates for fiscal 2015. Meanwhile, Hertz trades with a cheaper P/E of 12 based on estimates for the same timeframe, despite having higher growth expectations based on both revenue and sales. A return to certainty may result in a higher trading multiple, assuming analysts remain confident in their figures.

Advisors' Opinion:- [By John Emerson]
Hardinge (HDNG) the Perfect Fit to the Investment Puzzle
Several years earlier I had started following the machine tool sector and I became quite familiar with Hardinge. Although I never invested in the stock (I had opted for Hurco), I had noted that Jeffrey Gendell had been purchasing shares the company. Hurco (HURC) had much higher margins and it was my belief that the superior quality of their computerized machine tools and their accompanying software were reflected in their earnings. Hurco also held a vastly superior balance sheet at the time I made my investment.
